Bloody Sock and the media.
Most media members are frustrated athletes who couldn’t make it. There are a great deal of talented writers out there, I know in Boston we have some great ones. But some just can’t help but make themselves the story, from this red stocking to a liteny of others. What I don’t understand about the whole red stocking, Gary Thorne story is, why make his comment kind of fleeting like he did. He makes a serious statement and doesn’t make it sound like a big deal, it’s not, it’s over. Curt Schilling was part of a world series winning team, one part. Curt did a courageous thing that night for his team. If the story was that important someone would have had the sock tested but it wasen’t. Let it go! I’m sure Thorne has a huge ego like many writers and radio show host do, but the reality is, it is their job to report stories and comment on them and we do like to read the sports pages but guys it’s not about you and it never will be. Let the players play and let the media report it, now was that so hard to understand.

Over rated.
Denis Leary, sorry, JUST NOT FUNNY!
Joe Morgan, just terrible
Mitt Romney, absent Gov, need I say more. Please save us from your presidential run.
Gerry Callahan as a talk show host, Is there a bigger self absorbed jerk? Right wingers think he’s a nut.
Tom Cruise, what planet are you from?
Barry Bonds, and the fact that he was a hall of famer before steriods, there is no timeline he’s just a plain old cheater.
Athlete’s as role models, parents and other family members are your role models.

Dems or repub.
Why is it everytime I hear a republican they are pressing their issue on you and putting down a Democrate. Can they ever make a point on the subject at hand without telling us how right they are and not putting someone else down. Yes I sound like a Democrate, but I’m a registered independent and like to think I can see both sides. Maybe I just hear the extreme right wing repub’s and It drives me crazy. Sometimes I think the Dem’s are too soft, so I guess it depends on who I’m hearing at the time. Not my usual sports angle, but why not. I saw Rev Al on Bill Maher last night, I can’t take anything he says serious, what an agenda driven dude!

Youth sports, and the people who ruin it.
I have been on the inside of youth sports for many years, you may be shocked to hear some people’s motives behind their involvement in their particular sport. I have had parents offer to pay me to put their child on a higher level hockey teams because it served their purpose. When this parent had been holding other kids back for years in order to help friends. Parents have cut kids or dropped them down to a lower levels because they didn’t like the parents, or brought kid up too higher levels (baseball) because he had a good looking mom. Youth sports should be about development. If you see a child playing a cheap brand of hockey, that may be the kid, but when you see an entire team doing this it starts at the top (coach). Parents don’t understand, the small % of players who can even play a division 1 level never mind the pro’s. Parents don’t see what the child is doing but instead they see what their child is capable of doing. Stop living through your children and let them live their own lives, it will all work out for the best. Alot can be learned through kids involvment in sports if the parents would just give them the room to learn.

Schillings debut
Curt Schilling ran into a hot KC team that hit well this spring and kept in going on opening day. IF Curt won his first four games and he then got hit around it wouldn’t be as big a deal so unless this is a trend, it’s not a big deal.
